We design it. We build it. The same firm, accountable for everything in between.

Selected Work

A selection of recent projects — renovations, kitchens, baths, and additions across Long Island and New York.

What We Do

We work on most types of residential projects. Each one is handled with the same planning, coordination, and attention to detail.

01

Whole-Home Renovations

For homes that need more than one room addressed. We rework layouts, update structure and systems, and renovate throughout, coordinated as a single project rather than a series of separate jobs. This makes sense when you're reworking how the whole house functions, not just refreshing a space.

02

Kitchen Renovations

The kitchen sets how the rest of the house functions — storage, flow, where people gather, how you cook and live day to day. We plan it around how you actually use the space, then build it to last and integrate it with the rooms around it.

03

Bathroom Renovations

From a primary bath to a powder room, we handle layout, waterproofing, tile, and fixtures with the care these rooms require. The details that matter here are mostly the ones you don't see — done right, they're what keep the room sound for decades.

04

Additions

When you need more space, an addition adds it without the cost and upheaval of moving. We handle the design, structural engineering, and construction so the new space connects properly to the existing house — in layout, rooflines, and finishes.

05

Interior Reconfigurations

Sometimes the square footage is there but the layout isn't working. We open, close, or relocate walls to improve flow and light, coordinating any structural changes with the design so the result feels intentional rather than patched.

06

Design & Architectural Planning

Floor plans, elevations, and the drawings your project is built from. This is where layout, structure, and how the space will be used get worked out — and where most of the important decisions are made, on paper, before any cost is committed.

07

Permitting & Approvals

We prepare and submit the documentation your project needs and coordinate approvals with your local building department. Handling this in-house keeps the design intent intact and avoids the delays that come from passing it between separate parties.

08

Construction Management

We manage the build day to day — scheduling, trades, materials, inspections, and budget. You have one point of contact and regular updates, rather than a job site you're left to manage yourself.

How a Project Works

A clear, predictable path from first conversation to final walkthrough. Each stage has a defined purpose and specific deliverables, so you always know what's happening and what comes next. Tap any stage to read more.

01

Discovery & Project Planning

Every project begins with understanding the home, the people living in it, and the goals for the space. This phase is about gathering information and establishing a clear foundation before design work begins.

During this phase
  • Discuss your goals, priorities, concerns, and budget expectations
  • Review the existing home and project conditions
  • Talk through feasibility and potential challenges
  • Identify zoning, permit, and code considerations
  • Review functionality requirements and lifestyle needs
  • Establish a preliminary project roadmap
Deliverables may include
  • Existing condition review
  • Preliminary recommendations
  • Project priorities and objectives
  • Initial budget guidance
  • Consultant recommendations when required

The goal: determine what makes sense before investing significant time and resources into design.

02

Design Development & Budget Alignment

Once the goals are clear, we begin developing the design — translating ideas into a practical, buildable plan while keeping it aligned with your budget. The aim is to make informed decisions early so there are no surprises later.

During this phase
  • Develop floor plans and layout options
  • Explore space planning opportunities
  • Review architectural concepts
  • Evaluate structural implications
  • Discuss material and finish direction
  • Coordinate with architects and engineers as needed
  • Develop preliminary project budgets
Deliverables may include
  • Floor plans and layout studies
  • Design recommendations
  • Preliminary pricing
  • Budget refinement
  • Scope development

The goal: a clear understanding of the proposed design and the anticipated investment range.

03

Documentation, Selections & Pre-Construction

Once the design direction is approved, attention shifts to preparation: creating the information needed to obtain permits, finalize pricing, and get ready to build. Thoughtful planning here is what creates a smoother construction experience.

During this phase
  • Coordinate architectural drawings
  • Coordinate engineering requirements
  • Assist with permit submissions
  • Finalize material selections
  • Review cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, tile, flooring, and finishes
  • Develop construction schedules
  • Confirm project scope and finalize budgets and contracts
Deliverables may include
  • Permit-ready documentation
  • Engineering coordination
  • Material specifications
  • Construction schedule
  • Final project pricing

The goal: have every major decision made before construction begins.

04

Construction & Project Management

Construction begins once planning, selections, permits, and scheduling are complete. Our role is to coordinate the trades, manage the schedule, oversee quality, and keep communication clear throughout.

During this phase
  • Manage daily construction activities
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
  • Monitor the project schedule
  • Conduct quality-control inspections
  • Address field conditions and unforeseen discoveries
  • Communicate progress and upcoming decisions
  • Coordinate deliveries and installations

You receive regular updates throughout construction, so you always understand where the project stands and what decisions may still be required.

The goal: steady progress, clear communication, and quality execution.

05

Completion & Project Closeout

As construction nears completion, attention shifts to final details, inspections, and turning the project over to you.

During this phase
  • Complete punch-list items
  • Perform quality-control walkthroughs
  • Coordinate final inspections
  • Verify system operation and functionality
  • Review the completed work with you
  • Provide closeout documentation when applicable

The goal: a home that is fully complete, functioning properly, and ready to be enjoyed.

Pricing is developed and confirmed before construction begins — not estimated and adjusted as the project goes.

About the Firm

How we work.

Daniel Design and Build is a residential design-build firm working across New York City, Long Island, and northern New Jersey. We take on a limited number of projects at a time, which lets us stay close to the details and manage each one directly.

Our approach is straightforward: plan thoroughly, price honestly, and build carefully. Most of what makes a renovation stressful — surprise costs, delays, decisions made too late — comes from work that isn't coordinated. We resolve those things early, on paper, so construction is the calm part of the process rather than the unpredictable one.

What you can count on.

The things we won't compromise on, no matter the project.

01

One point of contact

You'll never be left chasing answers between trades. One team owns your project — and owns the outcome.

02

Honest numbers

Real pricing early, no moving target. The budget you approve is the budget we build to.

03

Built to last

We'd rather do fewer projects beautifully than many quickly. Craft over volume, every time.
